DB admin tasks

A database administrator is a person who has responsibility for the maintenance and operation of the database. Duties and tasks of an administrator can vary by the firm and can include:

• Installation of Oracle RDBMS and client software
• Creating a backup & recovery strategy to preserve data
• Daily monitoring of server performance
• Cooperation with developers during application development
• Export/import of data
• Managing database access
• Database maintenance at an expert level of support (RAC, Dataguard, AQ, Streams, database/query optimization, schema analysis and reorganization proposals, backup procedure optimization, patching)
